Our Story...

A few years ago Matt, Vasil, and I (Mike) started a video software company called EyeRover Media. At the behest of our investors we adopted our technology for the video surveillance market and proceeded to sell our platform as a network video recorder to assorted small and large academic, municipal, and commercial customers. At the end of 2005, for reasons we won't go into here, we sold off the EyeRover business to one of our resellers and decided to move on.

Fast-forward a year. In December of '06, Vasil called Matt and I to wish us holiday greetings. He then proceeded to tell us a most interesting story about his recent travels in Prague.

As it turns out, during the EyeRover days, we maintained a live demo site for our video service. After a simple registration, users could demo the My.EyeRover portal and connect to dozens of IP cameras located all over the world. One of the more interesting cameras we had on the demo site was located in a bar in Prague. While we had never actually been there ourselves, the owner encouraged us to highlight his tavern on our demo. (At the time we didn't think too much of this.) What made the site so interesting though was the waitress.

During his trip through Eastern Europe, Vasil was determined to visit the old tavern in Prague that we used to highlight on our demo site. After a few beers, Vasil struck up a conversation with Victor, the bar tender, and asked him if the tall blond waitress still worked there. Victor matter-of-factly asked Vasil when he had last visited the bar. Vasil coyly answered, 'over a year ago' and then proceeded to point to the camera that was still pointing at the bar.

What Vasil learned from Victor next spawned the idea for camXip. Victor proceeded to tell Vasil that many people had come into the bar because they'd seen it on the Internet. Victor actually maintained an email list of visitors that had come to the bar from abroad. He even communicated with some of them.

Well after hearing Vasil's story, we decided to start camXip. We think that IP cameras offer a unique way to welcome people from all over the earth into your world, whatever and wherever that may be.

Oh yea, Katrina, the beautiful waitress that we used to ogle all the time, apparently left Prague with her boyfriend and hadn't been seen in several months. Katrina, if you ever stumble onto this site please drop us a message and let us know how you're doing!
